Verizon locks out the GPS from any apps except their own. Google Maps works, but only via triangulation of cell towers.

It seems like there are issues with this on the Verizon phone.

The OpenCellID feature doesn't work on CDMA phones, but the GPS / FireEagle should work so I will look into that.

Downloaded the update for my Verizon 8330, and it doesn't seem to work in any mode. Doesn't update FireEagle, and CellInfo: Network Type Not Supported for OpenCellID 4

Uwe,

Can you connect to that URL via the browser? I can't reproduce that issue on my simulator or phone.

I think we at Fire Eagle think that the option to turn on automatic updates is really really useful and if you're thinking about it already, we'd totally love you to do it!

Do you have a fireeagle account already? From the BBTrackr menu, there is a "Setup FireEagle" option, this takes you through the steps to link the program to your FE account. Once linked a new options will appear on the menu "Update FireEagle", when clicked the update is sent to FireEagle.

Currently the FE updates only occur when you click the menu item, if you (or anyone else) would like it to update every x minutes I can build that into a new version.
