The way programming languages, and even more so the frameworks and technologies used by the programming languages, go in and out of popularity with major corporations which technologies will be adapted by which industry is anyone’s guess.  With larger corporations always slow to pick up on the new ‘cool’ thing it can be difficult to spot new trends, but once they do apapt a new favorite buzz word knowing that technology could get you a nice salary at your next job.  I found an interesting blog that did some real great analysis of the current job market and the programming languages and terms that are drawing the most attention.  Another great resource to try to stay ahead of the game is the Job Trends page at indeed.com.  Here is an example comparing the job posting for a few common programming languages.  It’s hard to draw any firm conclusions for this data but it can surely be used as a guide for the demand that is out there.  Now you might say well who cares how many jobs there are I want to know how much they pay, try this comparison out.  This information can be useful if your deciding to learn a new technology or brush up your skills to improve your career prospects.
